
I finally looked into Hermes, and man, that was hard to sit with. I had Opus 4.8 do a comparison of newb_agent (an AI architecture I've been working on) and it was almost the same in every way, just far more polished, with double the tools. That was a much-needed slap in the face.

I'm not the only one building these tools and architectures, and I'm definitely not the most knowledgeable. I've only been in this field for 18 months. Any idea I have, 100,000 other people have probably had too.

But I'm also happy, because I've only been at this for a year and change, and Hermes's design was almost identical to what I've been building toward. I'm still conflicted between these two feelings, but I'll keep building, keep learning, and one day I'll be able to share the idea first.
